Based in the medieval market town of Faversham in Kent, Shepherd Neame is an independent family business that has the distinction of being Britain’s oldest brewer. We can trace Shepherd Neame’s rich history back as far as 1698, and the history of brewing beer on our grounds in Faversham extends back even further.
Today Shepherd Neame is stronger than ever brewing an award-winning range of classic and contemporary ales and lagers such as Spitfire, Bishops Finger, Whitstable Bay and Bear Island, and running almost 300 pubs and hotels throughout London and the South East, from the historic heart of the City of London to the beautiful Kent coastline.
Because Shepherd Neame is committed to doing right by our communities, our people, and our environment, we have committed to a range of ambitious energy saving, waste management, and local sourcing initiatives to ensure that we are operating in a way that is as sustainable, future-focused, and environmentally sound as possible.
Want to come and see for yourself? Our award-winning Visitor Centre offers tours of our historic brewery, complete with a tutored beer tasting, throughout the year. It’s an experience that you won’t want to miss on your next visit to Faversham!
